BRYC is thrilled to share its new partnership with the LSU Honors College’s FOCUS Program. Every year, undergrads at the Honors College run FOCUS (Focusing on College and Unlimited Success) a two-week arts and leadership college immersion program for rising 10th graders. This year, all incoming 10th grade Fellows will attend FOCUS from July 16th-27th.
Fellows will bond while residing in LSU dormitories and participate in outdoor team-building activities. At the program’s commencement, Fellows will meet the FOCUS studio art, creative writing, philosophy, theatre, dance, and music seminar leaders, and will major in one of those areas. Throughout their two weeks, Fellows will attend three seminars each morning and meet with their seminar leaders in the afternoon. They will develop an individual project related to their major. At the program’s conclusion, they will present their completed projects to parents, friends, and BRYC staff.
Finally, on the last day, Fellows will meet former LSU and current NBA basketball player Glen Davis and perform community service involving one of Davis’s key interests: healthy living. We are excited to see our Fellows have an incredible time at FOCUS and prepare for an amazing year with BRYC!
