Candace Daymond, Community Relations Manager
Candace joined BRYC in June 2020. As community relations manager, Candace: drives BRYC’s new Fellow recruitment, admissions, and matriculation processes; manages our school partnerships; and oversees several special projects, including our Health Fellows program.
A native of Tallahassee, Florida, Candace graduated from Florida A&M University in 2015 with a B.A. in English. She continued her education at Florida State University, earning her M.A. in English while teaching freshman composition, research writing, and business writing. After completing her graduate degree, Candace relocated to Seattle, where she provided communication support at Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center. Since arriving in Baton Rouge, Candace has served as a policy research fellow for the South Louisiana Coalition for Education (SLCE), an organization supported by Leadership for Educational Equity. In this role, she worked to identify community priorities and use research to steer decision-making in school systems.
Her passions include reading, writing, educational equity, community advocacy, and cultural studies. In her spare time, she bakes, binges TV dramas, and plays with her dog Pepper.
