Elin Hawkinson, ACT Learning Manager

Elin joined the BRYC team in 2020 and serves as the ACT learning manager, supporting BRYC’s Junior and Senior Fellows on their journey to an improved ACT score.

Originally from Minnesota, Elin spent several years in New York City working in educational theatre before earning a BFA in Creative Writing from The New School. She taught English as a second language in Kobe, Japan, then returned to the states in 2014 to pursue an MFA in Creative Writing at Eastern Washington University. While there, Elin served as student director of the EWU Writers’ Center, taught creative writing in two local high schools, edited fiction submissions for Willow Springs magazine, hosted the VoiceOver community reading series, and tutored K-5 students in English and writing. After leaving Washington in 2016, she promoted access to higher education through communications roles at the University at Buffalo (Buffalo, NY) and the LSU Foundation. Outside of BRYC, Elin continues to write and publish fiction, and her favorite weekend activity is adventuring to new places around the South.
