Esmine Riggins (she/her)
Learning Manager
Esmine joined BRYC in June 2024 as a learning manager. In this role, she leads a cohort of 8th–10th-grade Fellows in developing and strengthening self-regulated learning (SRL) skills. Esmine’s journey with BRYC began in 2020 as a volunteer mentor, and her early involvement solidified her passion for the organization’s mission.
Originally from Lyons, N.Y., Esmine earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Syracuse University and later a master’s in teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education. Esmine’s experience working in a literacy program during undergrad sparked her commitment to fostering education equity. Following graduation, she tutored middle school students as an AmeriCorps Fellow in Wilmington, Del., then joined Teach for America in Louisiana, where she dedicated six years to educating students in Pointe Coupee, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans. After a year away from the classroom to focus on quality time with her family and their dog Gusto, Esmine returned to Baton Rouge, eager to continue her impact at BRYC. Outside of work, she enjoys running, teaching a group step class, and cheering on her favorite sports teams.
