Kendrick joined the BRYC team in June 2024. As BRYC’s dedicated eighth grade learning manager, he leverages his classroom teaching experience to enhance Fellows’ research skills, engage them in socioemotional learning, and prepare them for the ACT.

Originally from Dallas, Texas, Kendrick attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in honors sociology and a minor in history. During his college years, Kendrick had the opportunity to study abroad in China, England, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi. Upon graduation, he moved to Baton Rouge to pursue a career dedicated to empowering students of color through education. Before joining BRYC, Kendrick taught 6th- and 7th-grade social studies at IDEA University Prep, earning the Teacher of the Year award in his second year. In addition to his classroom responsibilities, he designed and facilitated teacher workshops focused on social studies curriculum and enhancing students’ writing skills. Kendrick also coached the school’s basketball team, achieving league runner-up status in his first year and winning the league championship in his second year. Currently, he is pursuing a master of arts in curriculum studies from LSU. Outside of BRYC, Kendrick enjoys spending time with his family, discovering new music, watching sports, hiking, and spending time outdoors.
