
Rhonda Irwin-Ikechukwu (she/her)
Director of In-School College Counseling
Rhonda joined BRYC in June 2024 as an in-school college counselor and transitioned to the director of in-school college counseling in spring 2025. In this role, she oversees the in-school counseling team and drives BRYC’s in-school advising efforts, which support up to 2,000 high school seniors per year.
A Louisiana native, Rhonda graduated from Istrouma High School, then earned two bachelor’s degrees from Louisiana State University in 2006 and 2007 and a Teach Baton Rouge Alternative Certification in English. She is also a graduate of the Relay Graduate School of Education Instructional Leadership Institute. Prior to joining BRYC, Rhonda served as principal and executive director of Capitol High School and held teaching and leadership positions in multiple district and charter public schools across the Capital Region. She is long-time advocate for Baton Rouge youth, believing that every child possesses the intellect and talent to achieve whatever they set their minds to when those tasked with guiding them to greatness are armed with the right tools.
