In-School College Counselor

Tavidee joined BRYC in June 2024 as an in-school college counselor. In this role, he supports a cohort of Senior Fellows directly in their schools to execute the college application and financial aid processes and prepare for the transition to college life.

Originally from Columbus, Ga., Tavidee earned his bachelor’s in psychology from Georgia Southern University. His journey in education began when national nonprofit City Year placed him in Baton Rouge, where he has passionately dedicated over a decade to shaping young minds. Tavidee has held various roles across multiple grade levels in Baton Rouge schools, notably spending six impactful years at Democracy Prep as a teacher, grade level lead, and science content lead. His commitment to educational equity led him to earn a master’s in teaching from Southern University and A&M College. Tavidee firmly believes that every young person deserves access to a quality education, seeing it as a powerful tool to level the playing field and empower future generations. When not at BRYC, Tavidee enjoys both creating and appreciating photography, poetry, and music. He also has a keen interest in consumer tech and loves staying updated with the latest gadgets and innovations. Tavidee is a devoted husband to his wife Janae and a proud father of three beautiful daughters; he loves spending quality time with his family and traveling together.
