October 11, 2023, marked a significant milestone as BRYC and the Greater Baton Rouge Society for Human Resource Management (GBR SHRM) jointly introduced “The Career Catalyst Collaborative.” This initiative emphasizes the power of mentoring, pairing 10 of BRYC’s College Fellows and Alumni with seasoned HR professionals for a year-long journey of growth and development.

BRYC has long recognized a pressing need for mentorship and guidance in the professional world, particularly for under-resourced students, but the pathway to identifying and engaging a mentor can be murky. The Collaborative takes the logistical and administrative guesswork out of the process and even provides a secure place to meet at BRYC’s downtown campus, ensuring Fellows can make the most of the experience. In its inaugural year, each of the 10 Fellow-mentor pairs will participate in monthly sessions ranging from networking to résumé writing. Fellows who complete the program will also receive a $250 stipend.

“This program holds immense promise for our Fellows transitioning from college to career, offering them invaluable guidance and mentorship from experienced professionals,” said BRYC’s Persistence Director Catherine Molleno. “I look forward to the measurable (and immeasurable) impact this program will have on their personal and career trajectories.”

The Collaborative echoes BRYC’s ongoing dedication to providing comprehensive support to our Fellows post high school, as they work to succeed professionally and reap the economic value of their degrees.
