Your Dollars Make a Difference
Healthcare is among BRYC Fellows’ top career interests, yet there are relatively few Black healthcare professionals. In response, BRYC and The Baton Rouge Clinic teamed up in 2020 to launch Health Fellows, a two-pronged healthcare career readiness program. Fellows participate in monthly sessions led by experts in the field and are eligible for $5,000 scholarships, generously donated by The Clinic. In 2021-2022, the BlueCross and BlueShield of Louisiana Foundation contributed additional scholarship funds, and Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University joined the programmatic team, focusing on allied health careers. Now in its fifth year, Health Fellows has provided 46 future healthcare professionals with $275,000 to pursue their dreams.
