Culture Camp (July 31 – Aug 4)
Annually before the start of a new school year, the BRYC team gathers for Culture Camp, a week dedicated to reaffirming and realigning with BRYC’s Core Values, Trust Statements, and Culture Code. This year’s theme, “Codifying the Win,” focused on a series of habits that, when adhered to faithfully, position team members for success on their terms and BRYC to perform at its best for Fellows.
BRYC thanks NSU for hosting our rising seniors for the June 2023 Senior Retreat and gifting three participants with surprise scholarships!
Senior Startup (Aug 14-16)
The Class of 2024 already got a jump on their college journey in June during the Senior Retreat to Northwestern State University. Next, they’ll begin fall programs one week early to get normed on BRYC’s senior year expectations and finalize key summer tasks, like their college résumé and CSS Profile. The college admissions and financial aid processes are daunting for even the most prepared, well-resourced student; BRYC’s model makes the most of every minute so Fellows are never at risk of missing a deadline, skipping a step, or losing momentum.
Throughout the year, Fellows and Mentors will gather at BRYC outside of weekly programs for community-building events like paint night. thebryc.org/volunteer
Back to BRYC (Aug 21-23)
Once again, BRYC will top previous years with our largest Fellow cohort to date, including 32 eighth-graders! Fellows will be rolling onto campus in the “BRYC Mobile,” a large van purchased with donations BRYC received through the 225 GIVES fundraising campaign in May 2023. And while programs are starting soon, volunteer mentors won’t join until the week of September 11. BRYC is still seeking ~100 caring, committed adults (18+) to mentor Fellows one night per week.
