Lights, camera, activism!

YPAR Discovery Workshop with LAAP
Fellows learning the basics of how lighting can alter emotional response to films

Louisiana Academy of Production (LAAP) helped Fellows working on YPAR projects explore creative techniques that move people to action. Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) is the framework BRYC‘s youngest Fellows follow to complete a year-long social justice research project alongside peers and a trained mentor. Now, Fellows are translating their research into an appeal to the community. Guided by local guest experts, they’ll experiment with different mediums like film, zines, social media, and persuasive writing, then use these skills to design a creative call to action. Research groups will showcase their findings and demonstrate their final appeals at a public symposium in April.
