College Fellow Donovan Thomas (BRMHS ’18, Howard ’22) spotlights diversity in investigative journalism. After wrapping The New York Times’ first Ida B. Wells Society summer internship, Donovan accepted a second distinguished internship covering crime and courts for The Washington Post’s Metro desk. Domestic correspondent Nikole Hannah-Jones described Donovan as “ambitious, humble, tenacious and hard-working,” traits evident in his positions as editor in chief of Howard’s student newspaper and president of the only student chapter of the Ida B. Wells Society. With every printed word, Donovan embodies the society’s mission: increasing the representation and profile of reporters and editors of color.
