Currently, only 5% of America’s legal professionals identify as Black, and 92% of the civil legal problems lower-income citizens face do not get enough – or any – legal help. Lack of diversity means the justice system does more to mirror disparities than combat them. Increasing representation among Black and Brown individuals in law-related professions is the solution, resulting in greater empathy and support for people in need.
Tammie Phillips Excellence in Business Scholarship
Presented by Christy Solar & Benchmark Mortgage in partnership with Goodwood Realty and the Live Rouge Foundation, the Tammie Phillips scholarship recognizes a BRYC Senior Fellow planning to pursue a career in business, finance, or entrepreneurship.
The inaugural winner is Melody Moncriffe (McKinley Senior High School, 2023), who plans to enter Xavier University this fall and pursue business ownership.
Congratulations to all the 2023 scholarship recipients!
