GiGi joins eight other BRYC Fellows who’ve “inspired others through their deeds and strength of character to become better students, persons, and citizens.”

Senior Germyrion “GiGi” George (Liberty ’24) is the ninth BRYC Fellow to be named a Louisiana Young Hero. It’s no surprise that GiGi’s leadership skills and service-driven mindset led her to join the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council and Liberty’s Student Council while serving as vice president of two culinary clubs. But did you know she’s also a talented poet? Writing helps GiGi work out challenging emotions. The first poem she ever penned, “Brown Skin Girl,” is about herself and girls like her; as she explained in her Young Hero interview: “powerful, intelligent, carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders.” Next up, GiGi plans to attend an historically Black institution and become a traveling nurse practitioner — a different type of heroism with potential to benefit thousands.
