Southern Lab School’s delegation to the YMCA Youth & Government Conference included Sophomore Fellow Reginald Ellis III.

Sophomore Fellow Reginald Ellis II represented himself proudly as a Southern Lab delegate to the YMCA Youth & Government Conference. For three days, dozens of Louisiana high schoolers assumed temporary control of the State Capitol to practice social responsibility and civic engagement in an immersive mock government setting. Reginald, a member of the Senate Gold group, participated in the Legislative Track and authored his own bill for improved school safety measures in emergency situations. While the issues were hotly debated, Reginald’s recommendation is to “just have fun with it” and enjoy getting to know students from across the state.
